First, I like to say at the beginning of the semester I thought I wasn't going to enjoy taking this class because of the problems that I was experiencing loging on to the bloggers and posting the assignments. I'm so glad that the instuctor took the time to talk over the phone to guild me through the steps to get started. Overall this semester has been very interesting. I'v learned so much from the many topics that was discussed during this semester. What was most informing to me was how HIV/AIDs has taken the life of so many people around the world. People or dying every day because they don't have the resources to get the medical treatment that's needed to help keep them alive. Another interesting topic that I knew little about was female mutilation. It's sad to hear that female mutilation is practiced in so many countries. Girls or expected to follow through with this procedure because of religous beliefs.
Overall, this was a great semester, I would like to say I've enjoyed interacting with the other students by responding to their posting.

Ways that women can reduce their risk of an assault. First, women should take precaution when their in desolate places. Women should always be aware of their surrounding. Women should always have their keys in their hand and their cell phone in their hand while she's walking to her car or any desolate place. Furthermore, I believe women should take some type of defense class to show how to protect themselves in a dangerous situation. Women can also keep some type of pepper spray in their purse to blind an attacker. Also, she can ask the security gaurd or another worker to watch her till she gets to her car.

I believe it's better to send drug addicts to mandatory drug treatment programs. I don't think sending a persn to jail solves the problem for a drug addits This doesn't work because you're putting the person in an environment were they can get the drugs. Also, while in jail the person isn't getting the rehabilitation that's needed to get off drug. The only way you can help a person that on drugs is by giving them the knowledge they need to stay off drugs. The first thing the the person must admit that they have a problem. When that takes place, that person is headed for recovery.

To reduced the shame that still surround mental illness, people who have this disability should be open about there condition and not be intimadated about what other think. This will help others that have the same mental illness because they will fell that their not alone. Furthermore, people who don't have a mental illness should let the one's that or diagnosed with this illness feel that they have their support. It is very much a shame that we live in a society that doesn't care about the well being of others. I think programs should be put into place to help educate people with the knowledge about this mental illness.

The things that I'm doing to make sure I age healthfully is taking care of my body. The first thing I do is make sure that I'm physical active by exercising at least 2 to 3 times a week. The second thing, I make sure that I'm eating a healthy meal so that my body gets the proper nutrient it needs. The the third thing I do is make sure that I'm drinking lost of water. Drinking lots of water keeps my skin looking healthy. Finally, I believe it's very important that I get the proper rest that my body need.
What I can I do better? I believe I need to work a little harder by staying with my weekly routine. I have to admit sometimes I waver off and allow myself to eat things that I shouldn't and sometimes I stay up to late which causes by body to be tired.

The factors that can influence women to adopt to healthier lifestyles to reduce their risks of cardiovascular disease is to encourage healthy eating and develop a plan for exercise in their life. The challenge that I face when it come to exercising is sticking to a exercise routine. I start off good by getting up early starting my exercise routine. I continue the routine for about 2 to 3 weeks and then I become bored. So, what I decided to do was to look at exercising like drinking water everyday. I know my body needs water to function properly, so I developed the mind set to look at exercise in the way of keeping my body to function properly.
When it comes to eating a healthy diet, I face very few challenges because I really enjoy eating healthy. As I've gotten older, I trained myself to eat healthy in order to stay in shape.

If I knew of a friend or love one who suspected that they might have an STD and was afraid to get tested, I would encourage them to get tested. I would explain to them that knowledge and prevention are the best defenses against STDs. I would go on to say if they continue to practice having unsafe sex that their putting their health at risk. Also, I would explain the importance of practicing abstinence. I would let them know this is the only safe way to prevent from getting an STD. If they continue to practice unsafe sex I would explain the importance of using a condom to lessen the chances of getting a STD.

Yes, I believe prenatal testing should be routine for all pregnant women. I believe every woman shouldn't have a problem with being tested. I think every woman should want to know about if there's any health issues that needs to be addressed concerning the health of their unborn child. The reason a mother should want to know is that she will be able to know how to handle the special need of her child. Speaking as a women, I would want to know because I would have the option to determine whats best for me. If I was told that my baby would be born with a birth defect, I wouldn't terminate the pregnancy. I would do everything in my power to make sure my child is well taking care of.

What bothers me about gettin old?
What bothers me when I think of old age is will I be able to take care of myself. One of the reasons that I decided to go back to school was to make sure that I would have a stable career, so that I could save money for retirement. I didn't want to be like most old people that you see today. Most of them or in bad health and living off a fix income. Furthermore, the old peoples children put them in a nursing home when their not able to provide for them. So, I decided to take care of myself while I'm still young, I decided to eat healthy, exercise, and establish a career that will support me during old age.

My thoughts on having children
First, I like to start by saying, I'm a proud mother of three boys. My oldest son, Corderro is 20 years old and my middle son, Fredrick, is 12 years old and my youngest son, Lorenzo is 9 years old. I want to say I love my children and I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world . But if I knew what I know today, I would have waited on having children at a young age. Being a single parent can be very challenging because everthing that needs to be decided upon or worked out has to be decided by myself. I have to make sure that there off to school, help with their homework, and concentrate on my schooling, and work to provide for my family. I can honestly say that the only reason that I stand today is because of my relationship with God. My heavenly father lets me know in his word that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. So, that why I stand today being a strong person that knows how to handle raising children alone.

Yes, sex education should be taught in the nations public schools. I truly believe that it's important that our children have the knowledge of practicing abstinence. By practicing abstinence, it will relieve the worries of contracting all kinds of sexual transmitted diseases. I don't believe that our schools should teach practicing safe sex because sex should only be performed within a marriage. Our children need to know that there or consequences for the actions that they take. They need to be taught that condoms and other birth control methods or not 100% effective. Also, they need to be taught that the decisions that they make today will affect them for a life time.

Healthcare: Right or Privilege?
I believe that healthcare is more of a right. I truly believe all people should have the right of being provided with health insurance regardless of how much that individual can afford. Furthermore, without healthcare the text states people are more likely to have poorer health, have significantly less access to care, and die prematurely than their counterparts with insurance. So, with this in mind I believe one has to consider a persons life and health is most important. Therefore, all people should hve the right of affordable insurance regardless of their income status.

The health issue that I'm concerned about are eating healthy and maintaining my weight. As I've gotten older, I have decided to change my eating habits to stay in good health. Today you see so many people with health issues for not taken care of themselve in their younger years. So, I decided if I was going to live longer and be in good health, I would have to change my eating habits as well as exercise.
The two women I interviewed are:
Mary Jones, black female, age 56
The issue mary is most concerned with is keeping her sugar at a stable level. She was diagnose with having sugar diabetes about 4 years ago. Also, she has been in and out of the hospital due to her sugar being to high. She stated that she tries to eat healthy and walk sometimes for execise to better her condition. Also, Mary stated to me that she can't work any more due to another condition, heart problems. She stated that she can't walk very fare without getting out of breath and having chest pains. So, she says she will continue to take her medication to better her conditions, but her goal is to be free of taking medication.
Mary Erving, black female, 62
The issue she's concern with is being diagnose with having asthma . Mary has been diagnosed wth this condition since a child. Also, mary says she has been in and out of the hospital due to her asthma which has caused her to miss time from work. Mary says when the weather changes thats when she's most affected.
